Are you thinking of launching a new product? Or investing in new premises? You won’t be going ahead unless you know market demand will make it a worthwhile investment.
Primary market research underpins every investment proposition and nothing persuades investors (be they board or third party) more convincingly than an independent assessment of the market opportunity and the company’s ability to capitalise on this. Depending on the process appropriate for individual businesses, market research will either test or inform the options. We can offer a full range of market research services, from postal questionnaires to telephone interviews and focus groups, and we consistently achieve above-average levels of response rates.
You may also be interested in finding out what your customers think of you. Knowing how you are doing is essential to the definition of what it is that you need to do. We offer a personal and independent service that provides your clients or customers with the opportunity to comment on your business’s performance, and a brief report detailing the implications of our findings and the investment issues that these raise.

In the course of successfully persuing £2.7m funding from the DTI for this client, we carried out a piece of bespoke primary market research in order to assess the potential demand for the proposed new refit facilities. A one-page fax-back questionnaire was designed and sent to yacht management companies and yacht brokers around the world. The results of this research, combined with extensive desk research into the market, helped us to prove to the funders that demand existed for proposed facilties. This formed a crucial part of the application for funding.

We helped St Austell Brewery secure £190,000 of funding from the DTI's Selective Finance For Investment programme for two projects aimed at improving the viability of their brewing operations and strengthen their marketing effort.
In the course of putting together the case for funding, we carried out research into the markets in which the brewery operates, including the following:
Through this research we were able to demonstrate the market opportunity in bottled beers for the company, backing up its proposals to improve the viability of its operation by the installation of a new bottling line.

We were part of a team asked by a prominent Westcountry business to investigate the feasibility of and potential market for a new call centre in the region. It was envisaged that the call centre would be used by multiple businesses wishing to outsource their telephone ordering and/or customer service requirements, and be managed and manned by our client.
Our role in the study focussed on three main areas - availability and cost of land and/or premises for the proposed centre, investigation of the availability and cost of suitable labour, and the potential demand from businesses for use of the call centre services.
Our research was carried out using the following methods:

Our client approached us to help him progress his idea to create a comprehensive, user friendly directory of suppliers whose services are geared to the specialist needs of schools. We carried out bespoke market research to assess the potential level of demand for such a directory, the extent to which the market was currently supplied and perceived to be supplied by schools, and to identify a way forward for the project including the format most likely to supply the market successfully. We conducted our research among schools using postal questionnaires, and additional desk research to establish the market context in terms of existing provision.
